What do you love most about your job?
There are many aspects I love about my job, but I would probably say that having to solve problems creatively is my favourite. Being a designer brings a variety of challenges that I must deal with differently day-to-day; there’s always something new to learn, or ways to think on how to improve on what was done before.
What inspired you to join the team here?
After meeting the team, I was inspired by how forward-thinking and progressive they were. There was a clear mentality to try and improve, and I was pushed to think about ways I could develop in my role before I had started - that was important to me.
What does your typical day in the life of finova look like?
My day is usually determined by the current tasks at hand - it could be working across the website, creating design collateral for print or social media, working on a video etc. Even though my work is varied, it’s usually a mix of working creatively, communicating with the relevant teams across the business, managing my projects to make sure they are sorted on time, and spending some time researching or looking for ways to develop on what has been done.
How do you see yourself developing in your role?
I think as there’s a lot of different areas I can develop in, so it’s hard to say specifically. I’ve tried to keep an open mindset since starting at finova and looked to progress in areas that match the needs of the team and business. Initially, this was self-developing my videography and video editing skills for events. Then, I went on a course for web design to work across our website. If I keep that mindset going forward, I’ll be happy!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A lot of things! In the past few months, I’ve been consistent with the gym, that’s been great both physically and mentally. I’ve always enjoyed playing and watching football, watching tv series and films (crime dramas, anime, anything with good storytelling or cinematography!) and spending time with family or friends.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
Without a doubt, football. Playing as well as watching. As a Spurs fan, it’s not always easy but I love the sport as a whole and tend to watch most games in my free time.
