Tell us more about your role

As a People Business Partner, I work closely alongside the business and support colleagues across finova to prioritise their wellbeing and happiness, ensuring they enjoy their work environment and their time at finova.

What are the day-to-day tasks of the People Team?

We have many! We facilitate activities right across the end-to-end employee lifecycle. These include activities like recruitment and onboarding, performance and capability management, learning & development, engagement and change, D&I, compensation, reward and benefits, succession planning and offboarding to name quite a few. We really try to emphasise creating a positive workplace culture throughout.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I like the fact that this role is so varied on a day-to-day basis – no two days are the same! We're a close-knit team who strive for the best in everything we do. I particularly enjoy working closely with business leaders and line managers to build their people capability and I'm very passionate about topics such as performance, development and engagement.

If you could describe your workday using only emojis, which ones would you choose?

🥳 – every day with this amazing People Team is good fun with lots to learn and contribute to!

How long have you been with finova? What motivated you to become part of our team?

I have just passed my 1-year anniversary! I was motivated to join finova by a former colleague who convinced me this was a great place to learn, grow and sharpen my skillset. She wasn’t wrong – there is a great opportunity at finova to influence how we continue to make this a great place to work.

Does your position at finova offer you a good work/life balance?

Absolutely! I have to give credit to our Head of People who completely trusts us to balance work commitments and our overall time. I truly feel my wellbeing is prioritised and well supported here.

What are some of the tougher challenges you've had at work?

The nature of this type of role means there are times where complex employee matters arise, but I pride myself in managing these situations with compassion and the dignity people deserve. I always strive to achieve the best possible outcome for all parties involved.

When did you first know that you wanted to pursue a career in this field?

At university! I fell in love with the subject Business Strategy and Industrial Psychology. The People and HR function is a great balance point between the two. I love being able to play my part in making a tangible and valuable difference to the benefit of both finova and its great people.

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

Surfing (problem is I'm scared of sharks 😊) and the drums!

What’s a cause that you are passionate about?

Travel! You only get one chance to see the world and its diverse landscapes, I hope to be able to see as much of it as I can 😊
