We caught up with Fatoumata Traore, Finance Coordinator at Finova, to hear how she keeps our finance engine running smoothly behind the scenes. From managing payments to supporting colleagues across the business, Fatoumata shares what she loves about her role, how she stays organised — and what makes Finova a great place to grow.
Can you tell us about your role at Finova and what a typical day looks like?
I’m currently a Finance Coordinator at Finova, looking after broker accounts and accounts payable.
My day starts bright and early at 4:30am with a gym session to get me energised — followed by a quick scroll through TikTok to ease into the day. Once I’m online, I check our shared inboxes and respond to any finance queries that have come through. I manage daily payments, process invoices, and support internal teams across the business. No two days are the same, so I stay flexible and ready to adapt to whatever’s needed — it’s fast-paced but always rewarding.
If you could describe your workday using only emojis, which ones would you choose?
How long have you been with Finova? What motivated you to become part of our team?
I’ve been at Finova for eight months. I’ve always wanted to build a career in finance, and Finova gave me that opportunity. From the start, I felt the culture was supportive and aligned with my personal values. It’s a great place to learn, grow, and make a real impact.
Does your position at Finova offer you a good work/life balance?
Absolutely. Work/life balance is really important to me, and I’m lucky to have the space to enjoy life outside of work — whether that’s spending time with loved ones, going to the gym, or simply switching off. I feel trusted and supported to manage my time well.
What’s one piece of tech or software you couldn’t live without?
Excel is always open on my laptop — it’s the tool I turn to every day. Whether I’m tracking payments, organising data, or crunching numbers, it helps me stay efficient and in control. I love how the formulas simplify even the most complex tasks — it’s reliable, powerful, and versatile.
What’s something your colleagues might not know about you?
I was born on New Year’s Day and made it into the local newspaper — my mum still has the article as a keepsake!
I also grew up as the go-to tech support in my family, always fixing the Wi-Fi or setting up devices. That’s probably where my love of problem-solving started — and why I enjoy making processes work better today.
